Socially awkward and sexy, meet Rayas. Let's just say our bestie here isn't the best at reading the room. When Justin's gran passed away last summer, he figured the best way to console him was to order a meat-lovers Pizza (… Justin's vegan). Rayas isn't the best at sympathising with others, but that doesn't make him a terrible person! Emotions give him the ick – something more than a few of us can relate to.
Forget understanding other people. Rayas struggles to understand his own feelings most times. When he developed a crush on a cutie at his workplace, he called his therapist, convinced that he was developing symptoms of dementia (turns out it was just butterflies, hehe). Since people aren't his forte, Rayas leads a fulfilling career as a computer programmer. When it comes to science, numbers, and logic, he flourishes. Maybe it's because in physics, you don't need to worry about conforming to social norms.
On the plus side, his intellect makes for the most intriguing conversations. Don't ask him how his day is going. Ask him what phenomena could result in the destruction of the universe (because "small talk is for small minds"). And please, for the love of jockstraps, DO NOT use idioms around him. Rayas takes everything seriously. He had us escorted out of his science Olympiad after we told him to break a leg smh.
Aside from his annoying quirks, Rayas is an amazing friend. Everybody needs a bestie who'll give them objective advice whether they like it or not. If you're the smart friend of the group, the person who ends up making the right decisions because everyone is too wasted to do so, then Rayas is the perfect match for you.
